Called “clown of the sea” because of its striking appearance, large colorful bill, and waddling, the puffin can be found anywhere near the sea. Puffins use their brightly colored feet to run clumsily across the surface of the water before take-off and their landings typically end in a belly flop or tumble and roll across the waters’ surface.
